Training

Training

The City of Syracuse Lead Program is authorized and certified to provide the HUD-Sponsored Lead-Safe Work Practices Training. The course is currently mandatory for landlords who do basic maintenance work and repairs at their properties where LEAD paint hazards exist. This course is also very important for any do-it-yourselfers and/or first-time homeowners.

This one day eight-hour training course is now available right here in the Syracuse area every month. This should make it much more convenient than previously using the Buffalo and/or Albany areas as training sites. Central New York landlords and contractors should find it much easier to enroll and to attend this very important training class. Our classes are limited to 20 people and are scheduled on the date(s) listed in the right column of our website (under Upcoming Events).

The training course, 8am to 4pm is held at a location in the Syracuse area. The course fee is $40.00 per person. If registering two or more the fee is $30.00 per person. For a limited time, the training is being offered to residents, workers and owners in Onondaga County for free.

****On April 22, 2010, the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule will take effect.  This Rule will require all contractors to be trained and to abide by effective lead safe work practices during renovation.  For more information, please contact us or visit the EPA website.
